Modelling of shrinkage formation in casting by the phase field method

Most commercial softwares simulating casting process use a scalar field to quantify the shrinkage on final parts. The repartition of this is used localize in part. In work, objective new approach predict morphological information about size and shape shrinkage: phase method. This method based parameter order defining alternating zones metal/gas. Starting with uniform unit value scalar, equation modified nucleation predicting growth air into metal one still liquid. coupling Navier-Stokes brings up some interesting non-dimensional parameters that affect morphology. what we have tried analyse after proposing fields formalism. Even if are not yet predictive stage, present end paper numerical/experimental comparison showing potentiality developed approach.
